Why is Rugby union considered a dramatic sports?



Rugby union is played outdoors and unlike regular football or soccer, a player is allowed to run with the ball in his hand.A rugby union team consist of 15 players on the field and 7 substituttes to bring on during the game.Players in a team are split up into forward and backs.Forwards are generally big and strong and do most physical duties during the game while backs are generally smaller but faster,more agile,and are the main point scorer for the team.The game is extremely fast paced and often there are dramatic clashes between the players which make it very thrilling indeed.

Why is America football(Rugby) different from soccer?


The main difference between American football and regular football is that, in American football a player is allowed to run with the ball in his hands.Unlike regular football the playing hour last for one hour and is divided into four,fifteen minutes quarters.Another difference is that scoring is done by 'touch downs'in which a player runs into the opponent's end zone with the ball or passes it to a teammate in the opponent's end zone.After touch downs extra points can be scored by kicking the abll through the goal posts.America football is violent in which every part of the body can be attacked by the opponents and so the two teams of 11 players each pad up as though they are going to war!

Why netball known as 'woman's basketball'?


Netball traces its root into basketball.After the invention of basketball,female teachers got curious and started to formulate a version for girls and this game came to be known as netball.
There are two teams of seven members each,why try to score points aganist one another by placing a ball through high hoop.Its an energetic game requiring high speed changes in direction and good ball handling skills.

How is Basketball played?


The game starts when refree tosses the ball between two players and one of them tips it to a team mate.Being very tall and having abilit why to jump very high from a standing position are great advantages for a player during 'tip off'.

Following tipp off each team simply trie score more points either by passing it to a teammate or by continuously bouncing the ball,which is called dribbling,towards the other team's basket.If a player is succesful in shooting a basket,the team is awarded two or three points depending on the distance from the basket.If the ball bounces or 'rebounds' off the rim or backboard ,both team try to get the ball,so as to try and score more points.The ball is out of bounds when it goes outside the boundary lines or touches any object on or above it including the bacboard supports.The ball is put back into play by the team that didnot touch it when it went out of bounds.

Why are techniques important in Basketball?


The ability to pass,dribble,to shield the ball from opponents and to shoot baskets are skills essential to Basketball player.Moving is important,but a player must not run while holding the ball.During passing a player can bounce a ball to a teammate and he should be able to dribble the ball with both hands so as to make it diificult for an opponent to get to the ball.Shooting is a very important skill.A slam-dunk shoot in which a player jumps very high and shoots the ball down to the basket is sure to win cheers from the crowd!

Why is basketball considered a relatively modern game? (Orgin of Basketball)


Basketball was intentionally inventedin 1891 by a Canadian YMCA instructor,James Naismith and is therefore a relatively a modern game.He designed the game to keep his wards busy during the winter season.Basketball is a fast paced,highly technical sports.There are two teams with five players each.The aim of each team is to score maximum number of points by putting the ball into the opposing team's basket.

The basketball court is rectangular with different areas like the sideline,midcourtline,and free throwlines.The basketball hoops are three metres(10ft) above the ground and attached to rectangular backboards.Each member has a crucial role to play.The Point Guard,the fastest player organises attack by team.The centre is usually the tallest players.His job is to block the opponent and send the ball rebounding off the rim of the basket or backboard.The Power Forward shoots the ball and has to be very aggressive.

Terms and Techniques of football


In football speed is very important but technique is equally so.T enjoy football you must understand some of the techniques and terms that used in football.

Attack:The team in possesiopn of the ball is said to be attacking as it moves forward.The aim of the attacking mover is to score a goal.

Pass:When passing the ball the player must apply the correct amount of power,move in the right direction and have good timing.

Dribble:To dribble is to run with the ball in close control.

Cross:A cross is used to deliver the ball towards player in attacking positions.

Shoot:A palyer shoots the ball into goal using a low hard shot off the instep of the boot.

Defence:The job of the defending team is to prevent the attackers from scoring and to gain control of the ball.

Tackle:When a player uses his feet to take the ball away from another player its known as tackling. I a defender tackles a player instead of the ball, its a fowl.

Interception:When a defender stops a pass by an attacker its known as interception.

Marking:When a defender shadows the movements of an attacker its known as marking.

Corner:When a ball crosses the goal line after touching a defender a corner kick is awarded.

Free Kick:When an offence is commited by one team a free kick is awarded to the opposing team. The opposing team gets to kick the ball from a stationary position with no player from the other side permitted to stand closer than abot nine metres from the abll.Free kicks are awarded from the position of the infraction.

Penalty Kick:For offenses commited inside the penalty area, a penaltykick is awarded.

Fouls:If a player commits a foul, a direct kick is awarded to the opposing team.An indirect free kick is awarded to the rival team if a player obstructs an opponent or plays in adangerous way.

Holding:If player holds another's clothing its a fowl

Obstuction:When a player blocks the ball, and an opponent, with out playing the ball, this is obstruction.
